New York City was the largest city of the United States as well the largest city in New York at the time of The Blackout it had a population of about 8,000,000 people.

When the Blackout struck New York City, all power was lost; the lights went out, elevators stopped working, and cars stalled in the streets.
2027[]
Fifteen years after the Blackout the city has become part of The Monroe Republic and has fallen into ruins that are overgrown with vegetation; the Empire State Building is still standing, however. It is unknown if the city is still inhabited or not.
